Daily Tile Care
Timeless tile offers outstanding durability and moisture protection, and your daily care steps will make them even easier to maintain. We recommend using quality indoor-outdoor mats at each entranceway to scrape footwear before entering the home. During the months that receive the most rainfall and winter months that produce constant slush, keep shoe racks by the door and encourage guests to remove footwear. Keep all pet nails trim to reduce scratching the floors and brush your pets to reduce the amount of pet dander that hits the tile surface. Sweep daily or as frequently as you can with a soft bristle broom or dust-mop to remove dirt and debris effectively!
Treating Spills On Tile
Thankfully, your tile floors can handle a spill, pet accident, or puddle without damage and treating them is incredibly easy. Use paper towels to remove any solid material, starting from the outside of the spill and working in. Use warm water with paper towels or a dry, white cloth to wipe the area up, and use a tile-specific cleaner to spot-treat any stains if needed. Loosen dried stains with a soft bristle brush, scrub, and rinse off again. You can also wet-mop your tile floors for an efficient deep clean as needed, by following your manufacturer's guidelines and drying the floor with a microfiber cloth. We can help you select the best mop for textured tile floors!
Cleaning Tile Grout Lines
It’s also important to clean visible grout lines on your tile floor to make sure the surface appears as brilliant as it should. Cleaning the grout regularly will also prevent the growth of mold or mildew. In order to clean the grout lines between tiles, use a half-and-half mixture of baking soda and water or a commercially available grout cleaner. Test your cleanser first in a less noticeable location. Avoid cleaning products that contain ammonia, bleach, oil, or any acid. Do not allow any cleaning solution to dry without rinsing it off and avoid using stiff bristle brushes or steel wool when cleaning grout lines.
