At The Floor Store, we make it our goal to help you maintain the beauty of the flooring inside your home. As Spring approaches, many will be starting their Spring cleaning. We suggest following these tips for cleaning your hardwood, laminated or vinyl floors at home.

Tip 1: Use a Small Amount of Water

It is essential to use small amounts of water while washing the floors. This will prevent the warping of the wood tiles or the planks. It can also prevent any damage to the sealants that are beneath the vinyl or laminated floor tiles.

Tip 2: Use a Gentle Cleanser

You should avoid using harsh cleansers on floor tiles as these chemicals can damage the materials with stain. Choose a mild soap for the laminated or vinyl floor tiles. If you are washing hardwood flooring, you should use a cleanser that is formulated for wood.

Tip 3: Use a Broom or a Vacuum Cleaner to Remove Large Debris

Before mopping the floors in your home this Spring, we suggest using a soft-bristled broom or vacuum cleaner to remove the major debris. We advise never to use a vacuum cleaner’s beater brush on floor tiles due to the fact that it can damage the vinyl, laminated or hardwood tiles.

Tip 4: Use a Soft Cloth for Spills

When something is spilled on a floor in your home, use a soft cloth to absorb the liquid right away. This can prevent deep stains from forming.

These are just a few tips you can use to ensure that your home flooring is ready for Spring! For more questions, give us a call, or visit our local showroom.
